5 Dogs Creek Cowboy Action Shooters hold monthly matcheson the first Sunday of each month, and also on the Saturday of the same weekend. Matches usually start at 9:00 am in winter or 8:30 am in summer.

Match Day Schedule

Winter Schedule

  • Registration opens at 8:00 am (register by 8:45 am)
  • Mandatory shooters’ meeting at 9:00 am
  • Match begins immediately after the meeting

Summer Schedule

  • Registration opens at 7:30 am (register by 8:15 am)
  • Mandatory shooters’ meeting at 8:30 am
  • Match begins immediately after the meeting

Match Information

  • Each day is a separate match. Occasionally a work party is held the
    Saturday before match weekend.
  • We follow SASS rules
  • Typically, we shoot 5 stages per day.

Recommended Ammunition (per day)

  • 60 rounds – single action revolvers
  • 60 rounds – lever action rifle
  • 30–50 shotgun shells
  • (a good rule of thumb is 24 rounds per stage comprised of (10 Pistol, 10 rifle, & 4+ Shotgun)

Bring extra ammunition if possible.
Ear protection and protective eyewear are required
(sunglasses are acceptable).

  • Match fees are $25 per day.
    Members receive a $5 discount ($20).
    NRA membership i    s required for all 5 Dogs Creek members.

Food, Water & Camping

We do not break for lunch — bring food or snacks and eat when needed.
Water or sports drinks are strongly recommended.

Free camping is available the night before regular monthly matches.
Potluck dinners or outdoor movie nights sometimes happen.
We’re friendly folks — come ready for a good time!

New & Visiting Shooters

New (or returning) Cowboy Action shooters are encouraged to observe a
Saturday match and speak with our Sheriff

for safety orientation. Sunday shooting may follow if ready.
