How To Get to 5 Dogs Creek Range

From the South
Take Highway 99 North through Bakersfield to Highway 65 North (Porterville Highway).

When you exit the 99 freeway, zero your odometer at the intersection where the Arco & Shell gas stations are. The mileages below are from this point forward. Ok? Ok!

If you’re driving at night you may see a yellow/red blinking light beacon at 9.6 miles. Just keep going past it.
Continue north on the Porterville Highway 65 until your odometer shows 11 miles…

At 11 miles Turn right (east) onto Famoso Road. (Away from the Famoso Race track).
Watch out for several sharp curves at 15.3 miles!

At 16.9 miles turn Left onto Tule. Watch out!

At 19.5 miles turn left onto Woody. Watch out!

At 20.1 miles turn Right at HorseShoe Ranch road & into the 5 Dogs Creek range. Follow this dirt road as you pass the Cowboy Action Range (which is on your right).

At 20.6 miles you can see the yellow “range house” ahead. Make a B I G U-turn to the right, and head back downhill towards the Cowboy Action shooting range you already drove past. But this time you’re inside the fence. (Parking may be different for special events.)

From the North
Take Highway 99 South and exit on Highway 46 offramp. Go east and it becomes Famoso Road. Cross Highway 65 and after 6 miles take the left fork: Tule Road. This dead ends at Woody Road. Take a left on Woody Road. Entrance to 5 Dogs Range is 1/2 mile on the right. Follow the dirt road to the hilltop and make a b i g U turn back down to the Cowboy range you already drove past. Special event parking may be different.

From the West
Take Highway 46 east which becomes Famoso Road after crossing over Highway 99. Cross Highway 65 and after 6 miles take the left fork: Tule Road. This dead ends at Woody Road. Take a left on Woody Road. Entrance to 5 Dogs Range is 1/2 mile on the right. Follow the dirt road to the hilltop and make a b i g U turn back down to the Cowboy range you already drove past. Special event parking may be different.
